There are estimated to be over 3000 dealers in the agricultural, garden machinery, forestry and ground care sectors in the UK. Dealer size will vary from relatively small garden machinery dealers which are family businesses with turnovers upwards of £300.000 to large multi branch, multi franchise dealerships with staffing levels in the hundreds and turnovers exceeding fifty million pounds a year.
Franchised dealers may have access to manufacturers training schemes and apprenticeship schemes whereas smaller dealers may work closely with their local college provider. Dealers may employ between one and twenty apprentices at any one time providing them with all the training and experience they will need to become fully fledged technicians.
