The Vehicle Health Scheme was relaunched in 2005. The is a joint initiative by the NAAC, BAGMA, NFU, NFUS with the help and support of HSE. DfT, VOSA, NFU Mutual, AIUA Insurance. The relaunch has seen a number of key organisations and government departments join to offer their support and endorsement to the scheme.

The initiative is designed to provide a mechanism for operators and owners of tractors to check the machinery for maintenance issues. It also provides a simple recording process that machines are being maintained on a regular basis.

A basic check can take no more than 5 minutes, but a more in depth check should take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour by the time all parts have been checked thoroughly.
